Biography
Will Connor grew up in Orangeburg County near Bowman. He went on to attend Clemson University, where he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1980 and a Master’s in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources in 1982.
His career began at the Charleston Naval Shipyard (1982–1985) before moving into the private sector with a local engineering and surveying firm, where he worked until 1991. That same year, Will founded Connor Engineering, a company he continues to lead today. He also served Charleston County Public Works from 1994–1998, managing road and drainage projects.
From 2012–2022, Will worked as Department Head for Major Repairs and Replacements with the Kiawah Island Community Association. In that role, he was responsible for maintaining and improving 60 miles of asphalt roadway, 18 miles of leisure trails, 125 detention ponds, more than 300,000 feet of underground storm drain pipe, 25 beach boardwalks, 3 observation towers, numerous wooden walkways, and 13 timber vehicular bridges.
With decades of engineering experience—particularly in roads and drainage—Will has developed extensive knowledge of the Church Creek drainage basin. Having led numerous projects in areas like Shadowmoss, he understands firsthand the challenges of traffic congestion and flooding that impact local residents.

Outside of his professional career, Will’s greatest joy is his family. He met his wife, Kim, in 1987, and they married in 1990. They have two grown children, Grace and Nicholas, who grew up active in sports including swimming, basketball, tennis, volleyball, soccer, and martial arts.
On weekends, Will often returns to his family’s farm near Bowman to relax with loved ones. He enjoys bonfires, grilling, target shooting, and long walks with his brother Rob, sister Wanda, and the rest of the family. Some of his favorite memories include tractor rides with Nicholas on their 1965 International Harvester and watching Nicholas cut bamboo from the Four Holes Swamp for walking sticks.
Family, community, and hands-on experience have shaped Will’s life and career—and they continue to guide his vision for the future.
